Bar Guide: Coley

Tucked away in Bangsar’s coffee joint Dr.Inc is Coley, a cozy and unpretentious cocktail bar run by CK, who is no stranger here himself having ran 44Bar when it popped up in the same space last year. This permanent installation – designed with Nala Design’s signature Asian-inspired patterns – reflects CK’s approach to cocktails that are simple and nuanced, with a pleasing focus on the Malaysian palate.

Among his creations include Gin & Coconut Water (London Dry Gin, Fresh Coconut Water and Lime) which is refreshing and lightly floral, and pulls no punches when it comes to the gin. The Whisky & Barley Lemon Water (Blended Whiskey, Home-brewed Lemon Barley Water) may appear like an odd combination at first glance, but you’ll grow to appreciate it as the night goes on.

Aside from the cocktails, there’s also a well-curated selection of rums, gins and whiskeys displayed behind the bar. Our suggestion? Try out the Ron Zacapa 23-year-old, or the Citadelle Reserved Gin, both of which are uncommon in bars across the Klang Valley.
